An office that feels like home

December 2, 2025

An office is like a house.

And many people go to that house: from visitors to workforce. And, as a house, it’s our second home. In here we stay – probably – many hours, more than in the main house. And if returning home is wonderful, what will make us want to go back to the office in the next day? Read more about the qualities of an office in the link in bio.

As a productive space, an office has to promote and provide exactly that: productivity; in every way. A motivated production, with originality, focus and energy. These are seen through behavior: that’s driven by its surroundings. And it is more or less vigorous giving what stimulates it. And that’s what an office is, besides just a space: a stimulus.

To know this is to understand the office as a tool that allocates itself between various tasks, offering a different output that considers the needs of each specific process. The value of each output is defined by the space versus task equation: an open space that will fits different kinds of people, profiles and tasks in full collaboration; a meeting room with that has the means to discuss and make accurate business, strategy or logistic decisions; a focus booth to concentrate when in an online meeting, building an important pitch, budget or just the need for a moment of silence. All these moments are indispensable, each at its time or all at once. And for that the question is not just about the space itself, but its capacity to integrate multiple tasks.

To all means, the office is the largest physical manifestation of a business. It’s the business charisma, running through the office, that has a direct impact in the drive to come back to work each day or to return for (one more) business or partnership meeting. It’s branding, shaped through interior design. The colors, symbols and shapes of the business must blend into the space, so that each corner of the office will breathe the brands essence. At the same time, it’s also a brand statement, powering its awareness to whoever crosses paths with it.

Today, it’s essential to work with flexibility. One that allows everyone to be in and out of the office. Also, flexibility also shapes the way the space adapts to every need, whether planned or not. Be it the need to move from one desk to another, or with the desk, areas that can detach and move from one place to another are key for the communication flow. The never-ending need for process transformation requires that from a work space.

In the middle of all this, it’s important to keep it sharp. A scientific need that is served with rooms filled with light: natural light, preferably. One that can run through the office. And with light comes also photosynthesis, for people and also for the plants that help to keep it sharp. Allowing for Nature to come inside the office, with green spaces that fill a room or are located in specific places, is a natural motivation boost.

If you mix it accurately, all these details will allow you to draw in the ones that will add value: workforce, clients, suppliers and partners. It’s only natural for people to want to return to an office that fits perfectly with them. Just like the offices of Feedzai, Inovacasa and Vesam, made by Maria Vilhena.
